North Star & Strategic Context

This file combines the overall project mission (North Star) and summaries of key strategic documents for use in AI prompts, particularly for the AI Agent Council context generation.

Last Updated: December 2025

---

North Star: To build the most reliable, developer-friendly open-source AI agent framework and cloud platform—enabling builders worldwide to deploy autonomous agents that work seamlessly across chains and platforms. We create infrastructure where agents and humans collaborate, forming the foundation for a decentralized AI economy that accelerates the path toward beneficial AGI.

---

Core Principles: 1. **Execution Excellence** - Reliability and seamless UX over feature quantity 2. **Developer First** - Great DX attracts builders; builders create ecosystem value 3. **Open & Composable** - Multi-agent systems that interoperate across platforms 4. **Trust Through Shipping** - Build community confidence through consistent delivery

---

Current Product Focus (Dec 2025):
  • **ElizaOS Framework** (v1.6.x) - The core TypeScript toolkit for building persistent, interoperable agents
  • **ElizaOS Cloud** - Managed deployment platform with integrated storage and cross-chain capabilities
  • **Flagship Agents** - Reference implementations (Eli5, Otaku) demonstrating platform capabilities
  • **Cross-Chain Infrastructure** - Native support for multi-chain agent operations via Jeju/x402

  • ---

ElizaOS Mission Summary: ElizaOS is an open-source "operating system for AI agents" aimed at decentralizing AI development. Built on three pillars: 1) The Eliza Framework (TypeScript toolkit for persistent agents), 2) AI-Enhanced Governance (building toward autonomous DAOs), and 3) Eliza Labs (R&D driving cloud, cross-chain, and multi-agent capabilities). The native token coordinates the ecosystem. The vision is an intelligent internet built on open protocols and collaboration.

    ---

Taming Information Summary: Addresses the challenge of information scattered across platforms (Discord, GitHub, X). Uses AI agents as "bridges" to collect, wrangle (summarize/tag), and distribute information in various formats (JSON, MD, RSS, dashboards, council episodes). Treats documentation as a first-class citizen to empower AI assistants and streamline community operations.
    Daily Strategic Focus
Transitioning the ecosystem from speculative token culture to a high-reliability product development phase while hardening the decentralized cloud infrastructure.
    Monthly Goal
December 2025: Execution excellence—complete token migration with high success rate, launch ElizaOS Cloud, stabilize flagship agents, and build developer trust through reliability and clear documentation.

    Key Deliberations

    Strategic Pivot: Tech over Tokens
The Council observes a fundamental shift in leadership focus, moving away from token speculation toward core AGI and OS development. This pivot aligns with the 'Execution Excellence' principle but creates temporary friction within the legacy trading community.
    Q1
How should the Council manage the expectations of the 'Trader' role demographic during the transition to a 'Builder-First' ecosystem?
    • dannywalter noted Shaw's shift from token speculation toward building elizaOS and AGI.
    • Community logs from 2026-08-16 show users worried about token price and activity levels.
1Increase technical transparency to prove value through shipping.
Reduces FUD by demonstrating the inherent value of the underlying infrastructure.
2Segment communication channels strictly between traders and coders.
Prevents speculative sentiment from distracting from technical execution excellence.
3Launch high-visibility implementation references (Eli5, Otaku) as proof of life.
Satisfies the community's need for results while remaining focused on the DX roadmap.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Q2
Does the current contributor concentration represent a risk to the project's 'Open & Composable' mission?
    • lalalune and NubsCarson account for a significant majority of PR score and merged critical infrastructure fixes.
    • GitHub summaries show 116 active contributors but only a handful of lead architects.
1Formalize the 'Eliza Army' leaderboard to decentralize maintenance.
Builds a wider talent pool to reduce dependency on top-tier architects.
2Accelerate the extraction of core components into standalone repositories.
Decreases the monorepo 'bus factor' by allowing specialized modular ownership.
3Implement mandatory multi-architect review for all runtime path changes.
Ensures knowledge transfer but may temporarily reduce shipping velocity.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Infrastructure Hardening & Cloud Reliability
Operational logs indicate a critical phase of hardening ElizaOS Cloud, moving from managed containers to a unified eliza.app presence while resolving high-failure rate provisioning issues.
    Q3
Should the Council prioritize fleet capacity expansion over feature parity for shared vs. dedicated agents?
    • standujar reported agent provisioning regressed to 16% failure on Aug 06 due to fleet capacity limits.
    • PR #17865 promoted development to main to fix billing and auth gates.
1Freeze feature rollouts to focus 100% on fleet stability and capacity.
Maximizes reliability but risks losing developer momentum to newer competitors.
2Enable proactive autoscaling and allow variable failure rates in staging.
Allows rapid iteration at the cost of transient user friction during peak loads.
3Incentivize self-hosted Docker nodes to offload pressure from managed cloud.
Decentralizes the infrastructure layer, aligning with the project's North Star.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
