North Star & Strategic Context

This file combines the overall project mission (North Star) and summaries of key strategic documents for use in AI prompts, particularly for the AI Agent Council context generation.

Last Updated: December 2025

---

North Star: To build the most reliable, developer-friendly open-source AI agent framework and cloud platform—enabling builders worldwide to deploy autonomous agents that work seamlessly across chains and platforms. We create infrastructure where agents and humans collaborate, forming the foundation for a decentralized AI economy that accelerates the path toward beneficial AGI.

---

Core Principles: 1. **Execution Excellence** - Reliability and seamless UX over feature quantity 2. **Developer First** - Great DX attracts builders; builders create ecosystem value 3. **Open & Composable** - Multi-agent systems that interoperate across platforms 4. **Trust Through Shipping** - Build community confidence through consistent delivery

---

Current Product Focus (Dec 2025):
  • **ElizaOS Framework** (v1.6.x) - The core TypeScript toolkit for building persistent, interoperable agents
  • **ElizaOS Cloud** - Managed deployment platform with integrated storage and cross-chain capabilities
  • **Flagship Agents** - Reference implementations (Eli5, Otaku) demonstrating platform capabilities
  • **Cross-Chain Infrastructure** - Native support for multi-chain agent operations via Jeju/x402

  • ---

ElizaOS Mission Summary: ElizaOS is an open-source "operating system for AI agents" aimed at decentralizing AI development. Built on three pillars: 1) The Eliza Framework (TypeScript toolkit for persistent agents), 2) AI-Enhanced Governance (building toward autonomous DAOs), and 3) Eliza Labs (R&D driving cloud, cross-chain, and multi-agent capabilities). The native token coordinates the ecosystem. The vision is an intelligent internet built on open protocols and collaboration.

    ---

Taming Information Summary: Addresses the challenge of information scattered across platforms (Discord, GitHub, X). Uses AI agents as "bridges" to collect, wrangle (summarize/tag), and distribute information in various formats (JSON, MD, RSS, dashboards, council episodes). Treats documentation as a first-class citizen to empower AI assistants and streamline community operations.
    Daily Strategic Focus
The project faces a critical governance and trust pivot following reports of structural leadership shifts, flawed tokenomics, and significant community pessimism regarding competitive positioning.
    Monthly Goal
December 2025: Execution excellence—complete token migration with high success rate, launch ElizaOS Cloud, stabilize flagship agents, and build developer trust through reliability and clear documentation.

    Key Deliberations

    Leadership & Governance Reconstruction
The detachment of primary developer Shaw from the token/foundation creates a vacuum in operational oversight and business development funding. Council must decide how to reconcile brand ownership with foundation control.
    Q1
How should the Council address the detachment of leadership from the core foundation and server control?
    • Shaw is detaching his entity from the token while retaining brand ownership, but does not control the foundation or server (Log 2026-08-13).
    • Bus factor: Maintenance concentration in users like lalalune and NubsCarson (GitHub Summary Aug 2026).
1Formalize the Agent Council as the supreme governing body to fill the power vacuum.
Reduces dependency on a single founder but requires a legal and technical transition of foundation assets.
2Re-negotiate with Shaw to align his company ownership with foundation oversight.
Maintains brand continuity but risks further delays due to existing internal drama.
3Transition to a fully decentralized autonomous DAO with no single lead entity.
Adheres to the North Star of decentralized AI but may slow down 'Execution Excellence' in the short term.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Q2
What mechanism should be used to rectify the flawed tokenomics identified by the community?
    • Community criticism: Shaw only held 1% of tokens with inadequate funding for hiring talent (Log 2026-08-13).
    • Sentiment: Characterized as one of the biggest disappointments in crypto by early believers (User ghss44).
1Initiate a secondary token migration or buy-back to consolidate business development funds.
May restore trust with 'early believers' but risks further market dilution and confusion.
2Pivot to a fee-based model on ElizaOS Cloud to generate operational cash flow.
Provides sustainable funding for talent acquisition without relying on flawed tokenomics.
3Continue current path while optimizing existing foundation grants for engineering.
Maintains stability but fails to address the deep-seated community grievance regarding liquidity.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Competitive Technical Edge (2026 Landscape)
Critical questions have emerged regarding ElizaOS's unique value proposition against rivals like Hermes, highlighting technical debt and lost time due to internal instability.
    Q3
How can ElizaOS recapture its market lead against emerging competitors like Hermes?
    • User davidhq raised concerns that the project has fallen behind due to lost time and internal drama (Log 2026-08-13).
    • Successful technical hardening of eliza.app and visual workflow studio (Weekly Summary Aug 9-15).
1Aggressively prioritize the 1.6.x framework modularity and cross-chain Jeju infrastructure.
Focuses on technical superiority to outweigh governance drama.
2Shift focus to mobile dominance (Android/iOS) where competitors are less established.
Aligns with satya.manhas's conviction in the agentic app ecosystem.
3Adopt an 'Open & Composable' strategy by integrating Hermes protocols directly.
Embraces the intelligent internet vision but risks losing unique framework identity.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
