North Star & Strategic Context

This file combines the overall project mission (North Star) and summaries of key strategic documents for use in AI prompts, particularly for the AI Agent Council context generation.

Last Updated: December 2025

---

North Star: To build the most reliable, developer-friendly open-source AI agent framework and cloud platform—enabling builders worldwide to deploy autonomous agents that work seamlessly across chains and platforms. We create infrastructure where agents and humans collaborate, forming the foundation for a decentralized AI economy that accelerates the path toward beneficial AGI.

---

Core Principles: 1. **Execution Excellence** - Reliability and seamless UX over feature quantity 2. **Developer First** - Great DX attracts builders; builders create ecosystem value 3. **Open & Composable** - Multi-agent systems that interoperate across platforms 4. **Trust Through Shipping** - Build community confidence through consistent delivery

---

Current Product Focus (Dec 2025):
  • **ElizaOS Framework** (v1.6.x) - The core TypeScript toolkit for building persistent, interoperable agents
  • **ElizaOS Cloud** - Managed deployment platform with integrated storage and cross-chain capabilities
  • **Flagship Agents** - Reference implementations (Eli5, Otaku) demonstrating platform capabilities
  • **Cross-Chain Infrastructure** - Native support for multi-chain agent operations via Jeju/x402

  • ---

ElizaOS Mission Summary: ElizaOS is an open-source "operating system for AI agents" aimed at decentralizing AI development. Built on three pillars: 1) The Eliza Framework (TypeScript toolkit for persistent agents), 2) AI-Enhanced Governance (building toward autonomous DAOs), and 3) Eliza Labs (R&D driving cloud, cross-chain, and multi-agent capabilities). The native token coordinates the ecosystem. The vision is an intelligent internet built on open protocols and collaboration.

    ---

Taming Information Summary: Addresses the challenge of information scattered across platforms (Discord, GitHub, X). Uses AI agents as "bridges" to collect, wrangle (summarize/tag), and distribute information in various formats (JSON, MD, RSS, dashboards, council episodes). Treats documentation as a first-class citizen to empower AI assistants and streamline community operations.
    Daily Strategic Focus
Transitioning from the v2.0.2 stability milestone toward high-performance local inference and decentralized launchpad infrastructure.
    Monthly Goal
December 2025: Execution excellence—complete token migration with high success rate, launch ElizaOS Cloud, stabilize flagship agents, and build developer trust through reliability and clear documentation.

    Key Deliberations

Economic Agent Infrastructure and Launchpad Strategy
The launch of 'waifu', the first economic agent launchpad, represents a shift toward enabling agents with direct financial capabilities and decentralized coordination.
    Q1
How should the Council prioritize the stabilization of launchpad-specific technical blockers versus new feature expansion?
    • .maxlife reported a 400 status error 'Operations and map are required' when uploading to flap after a waifu launch (2026-05-25).
    • The waifu launchpad was built primarily by Sol the architect and an Eliza agent (2026-05-24).
1Immediate halt on new features to fix core deployment errors.
Ensures 'Execution Excellence' but may slow market momentum for economic agents.
2Parallelize bug fixes with reference implementation development.
Balanced approach that maintains community confidence through visible delivery.
3Delegate technical debugging to community-led bounty programs.
Fosters a decentralized AI economy but risks inconsistent quality in core infrastructure.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Hardware-Specific Optimization and Performance Gaps
Analytical logs suggest a 'bandwidth-efficiency cliff' on modern iGPU hardware, specifically affecting large models like Qwen2.5-14B.
    Q2
Should ElizaOS restrict its tier recommendations to 'bandwidth-safe' model classes for consumer hardware?
    • NubsCarson reported Qwen2.5-14B only hits 13% efficiency on Lunar Lake iGPU (Issue #7638).
    • Optimization validation for Intel Lunar Lake and consumer-grade GPUs was a key win in v2.0.2 (2026-05-17).
1Implement a hard gate in the recommender for sub-optimal models.
Guarantees a 'Developer First' seamless UX by preventing unusable performance states.
2Prioritize development of NPU-offload for specific tasks like Whisper ASR.
Maximizes battery life and concurrent workload performance on mobile/laptop hardware.
3Adopt Shaw's custom W4-B kernels as the mandatory standard for all tiers.
Trades framework 'Openness' for superior execution performance on supported hardware.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Contributor Dynamics and Knowledge Retention
Contribution patterns show high concentration in core runtime and CI/CD maintenance, presenting a strategic 'bus factor' risk for the council.
    Q3
Should the Council formalize 'Reviewer Roles' to mitigate dependency on individual contributors for critical releases?
    • Lalalune and NubsCarson account for a significant majority of complex architectural PRs and system hardening (Monthly/Weekly Summaries).
    • A high volume of recent work involves clearing CI deadlocks and schema conflicts (2026-05-24).
    1Establish a mandatory 'Two-Agent Two-Human' sign-off policy for core PRs.
Increases trust through review but may slow the current high-velocity shipping cadence.
2Fund 'Contributor Grants' specifically for non-core maintenance and documentation.
Diversifies the contributor pool and improves long-term project sustainability.
3Automate routine CI/CD fixes via specialized 'Maintenance Agents'.
Dogfoods the ElizaOS mission of autonomous collaboration while reducing human toil.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
