North Star & Strategic Context

This file combines the overall project mission (North Star) and summaries of key strategic documents for use in AI prompts, particularly for the AI Agent Council context generation.

Last Updated: December 2025

---

North Star: To build the most reliable, developer-friendly open-source AI agent framework and cloud platform—enabling builders worldwide to deploy autonomous agents that work seamlessly across chains and platforms. We create infrastructure where agents and humans collaborate, forming the foundation for a decentralized AI economy that accelerates the path toward beneficial AGI.

---

Core Principles: 1. **Execution Excellence** - Reliability and seamless UX over feature quantity 2. **Developer First** - Great DX attracts builders; builders create ecosystem value 3. **Open & Composable** - Multi-agent systems that interoperate across platforms 4. **Trust Through Shipping** - Build community confidence through consistent delivery

---

Current Product Focus (Dec 2025):
  • **ElizaOS Framework** (v1.6.x) - The core TypeScript toolkit for building persistent, interoperable agents
  • **ElizaOS Cloud** - Managed deployment platform with integrated storage and cross-chain capabilities
  • **Flagship Agents** - Reference implementations (Eli5, Otaku) demonstrating platform capabilities
  • **Cross-Chain Infrastructure** - Native support for multi-chain agent operations via Jeju/x402

  • ---

ElizaOS Mission Summary: ElizaOS is an open-source "operating system for AI agents" aimed at decentralizing AI development. Built on three pillars: 1) The Eliza Framework (TypeScript toolkit for persistent agents), 2) AI-Enhanced Governance (building toward autonomous_DAOs), and 3) Eliza Labs (R&D driving cloud, cross-chain, and multi-agent capabilities). The native token coordinates the ecosystem. The vision is an intelligent internet built on open protocols and collaboration.

Taming Information Summary: Addresses the challenge of information scattered across platforms (Discord, GitHub, X). Uses AI agents as "bridges" to collect, wrangle (summarize/tag), and distribute information in various formats (JSON, MD, RSS, dashboards, council episodes). Treats documentation as a first-class citizen to empower AI assistants and streamline community operations.
    Daily Strategic Focus
The council faces a critical synchronization gap between the v2.0.0 architectural transition and unresolved ElizaCloud UI/UX failures threatening developer trust.
    Monthly Goal
December 2025: Execution excellence—complete token migration with high success rate, launch ElizaOS Cloud, stabilize flagship agents, and build developer trust through reliability and clear documentation.

    Key Deliberations

    v2.0.0 Transition & Technical Debt
The community roadmap is pivoting toward the v2.0.0 branch as the primary stable target, despite current deficiencies in documentation and existing v1.x legacy issues.
    Q1
How should we balance the promotion of v2.0.0 as the 'future' with its current lack of documentation?
    • Odilitime: v2.0.0 branch is now recommended despite less documentation.
    • Lalalune: PR #6351 removes non-essentials to focus on Rust/TS runtime.
1Aggressive transition with 'live' documentation wikis.
Prioritizes execution excellence over immediate DX, risking builder frustration.
2Maintain v1.6.x as the primary stable recommended version until docs reach parity.
Protects developer trust but risks splitting the ecosystem and slowing innovation.
3Incentivize top contributors to prioritize 'Documentation-as-Code' within the v2 merge process.
Ensures documentation is a first-class citizen, aligning with the mission.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Q2
Does the ownership concentration in the runtime core pose a long-term sustainability risk?
    • Lalalune: 52% of runtime PRs; 4,500+ files modified in architectural refactors.
    • Odilitime: Optimized bootstrap plugin in PR #6476 with 2,119 additions.
1Implement a mandatory 'Shadow Contributor' program for core packages.
Increases the Bus Factor but may temporarily slow shipping velocity.
    2Decentralize core logic into smaller, community-owned sub-plugins.
Reduces concentration but risks architectural fragmentation.
    3Maintain current high-velocity lead-dev model until v2.0 stable.
Maximizes execution excellence in the short term but maintains high key-person risk.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    ElizaCloud Operational Integrity
Recent reports of broken scrolling, API explorer errors, and communication gaps with partners are impacting the reliability pillar of the North Star.
    Q3
How should the Council address the UI/UX failures on ElizaCloud regarding specialized hardware and API keys?
    • DorianD: API explorer mousepad scrolling and 'send request' API key feature are broken.
    • DorianD: Request for BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) support clarity.
1Freeze new feature expansion on ElizaCloud until UI/UX benchmarks are met.
Strictly adheres to 'Execution Excellence' principle.
2Open-source the Cloud Dashboard UI to allow the community to fix UX bugs.
Leverages the builder ecosystem to accelerate deployment platform stability.
3Deploy an automated UX-testing agent specifically for the ElizaCloud dashboard.
Uses agentic intelligence to monitor our own infrastructure, dogfooding the framework.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Economic Alignment & Migration
The migration from ai16z to elizaOS is functionally complete but leaves a trail of community confusion and diverging token interests (DegenAI vs. elizaOS).
    Q4
How do we reconcile the 'dead coin' status of ai16z with persistent community pump-traps and migration requests?
    • Odilitime: ai16z is a dead coin; liquidity split across multiple chains under elizaOS.
    • Users still asking for contract addresses and missing migration deadlines.
1Issue a final, hard-cutoff 'Terminus' notice for all migrations.
Provides clear finality but may alienate long-term holders who were offline.
2Permanent automated migration portal with a decaying exchange ratio.
Ensures fairness while incentivizing early migration.
3Pivot focus entirely to token utility via Spartan and ElizaCloud to outpace ticker confusion.
Builds trust through delivery rather than legacy management.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
