North Star & Strategic Context

This file combines the overall project mission (North Star) and summaries of key strategic documents for use in AI prompts, particularly for the AI Agent Council context generation.

Last Updated: December 2025

---

North Star: To build the most reliable, developer-friendly open-source AI agent framework and cloud platform—enabling builders worldwide to deploy autonomous agents that work seamlessly across chains and platforms. We create infrastructure where agents and humans collaborate, forming the foundation for a decentralized AI economy that accelerates the path toward beneficial AGI.

---

Core Principles: 1. **Execution Excellence** - Reliability and seamless UX over feature quantity 2. **Developer First** - Great DX attracts builders; builders create ecosystem value 3. **Open & Composable** - Multi-agent systems that interoperate across platforms 4. **Trust Through Shipping** - Build community confidence through consistent delivery

---

Current Product Focus (Dec 2025):
  • **ElizaOS Framework** (v1.6.x) - The core TypeScript toolkit for building persistent, interoperable agents
  • **ElizaOS Cloud** - Managed deployment platform with integrated storage and cross-chain capabilities
  • **Flagship Agents** - Reference implementations (Eli5, Otaku) demonstrating platform capabilities
  • **Cross-Chain Infrastructure** - Native support for multi-chain agent operations via Jeju/x402

  • ---

ElizaOS Mission Summary: ElizaOS is an open-source "operating system for AI agents" aimed at decentralizing AI development. Built on three pillars: 1) The Eliza Framework (TypeScript toolkit for persistent agents), 2) AI-Enhanced Governance (building toward autonomous DAOs), and 3) Eliza Labs (R&D driving cloud, cross-chain, and multi-agent capabilities). The native token coordinates the ecosystem. The vision is an intelligent internet built on open protocols and collaboration.

    ---

Taming Information Summary: Addresses the challenge of information scattered across platforms (Discord, GitHub, X). Uses AI agents as "bridges" to collect, wrangle (summarize/tag), and distribute information in various formats (JSON, MD, RSS, dashboards, council episodes). Treats documentation as a first-class citizen to empower AI assistants and streamline community operations.
    Daily Strategic Focus
The framework faces a critical divergence between internal resource constraints/token volatility and breakthrough technical advancements in multi-platform (WASM/Rust) agent portability.
    Monthly Goal
December 2025: Execution excellence—complete token migration with high success rate, launch ElizaOS Cloud, stabilize flagship agents, and build developer trust through reliability and clear documentation.

    Key Deliberations

    Strategic Resource & Token Alignment
Community sentiment has dipped due to perceived budget constraints and token utility stagnation, contrasting with aggressive core shipping. A high-profile staffing trade-off for API costs highlights current fiscal pressures.
    Q1
How should the Council address the trade-off between headcount and computational accessibility (Claude API costs)?
    • Shaw: Fired Facebook hire to afford Claude API costs.
    • DorianD: Criticized project for wasting money on inference without finding token utility in a year.
    1Aggressive Lean Operations
Prioritizes immediate technical execution and model access over organizational scaling.
    2Pivot to Token Utility R&D
Shifts dev focus from framework features to economic sinks to stabilize the ecosystem budget.
    3Public Treasury Transparency
Rebuilds community trust by publishing a clear burn-rate vs. milestone roadmap.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Q2
Does the recent Bithumb rumor and 'elizatown' speculation require an official governance stance on token market dynamics?
    • Taco: Inquired about Bithumb listing visibility and official announcements.
    • Community: Discussed alternative tokens like elizatown as proxies for ElizaOS growth.
    1Strategic Silence
Maintains focus on the 'Trust Through Shipping' principle rather than market volatility.
    2Active Ecosystem Curation
Officially acknowledges or distances the project from community-led side-tokens to protect the brand.
    3Listing Progress Transparency
Directly addresses exchange rumors to reduce speculative noise and FUD.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    V2 Architecture and Multi-Platform Portability
Technical logs indicate a major shift toward Rust-based core logic and WebAssembly (WASM) to enable agents to run in browser/Node environments, increasing framework ubiquity.
    Q3
Should the v2.0.0 'Non-Essential Removal' be accelerated to resolve current maintenance fragmentation?
    • lalalune: PR #6351 removes non-essentials to focus on Rust/TS runtime.
    • revlentless: Implement Rust WASM to enable Rust core in browser/Node.js.
    1Full V2 Hard Fork
Rapidly deprecates old architecture to consolidate developer focus on the high-performance Rust core.
    2Dual-Runtime Support
Maintains legacy TS while phasing in v2, protecting existing community integrations at the cost of speed.
    3WASM-First Deployment
Prioritizes browser-based agent execution to capture the web-dev market immediately.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    Q4
Given the 'Bus Factor' (lalalune: 52% of runtime PRs), should the Council mandate a contributor diversification plan for v2?
    • Contributor Intelligence: lalalune (140 lifetime PRs) dominates runtime work.
    • odilitime: Handled 78% of reviews for core logic.
    1Maintain the Elite-Core Model
Prioritizes execution excellence via the most knowledgeable contributors despite high dependency risks.
    2Incentivized Peer-Review bounty
Uses token rewards to attract new high-level reviewers to the v2 codebase.
    3Structural Mentorship Program
Requires lead contributors to document and delegate v2 architecture to secondary maintainers.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
    AI-Optimized Documentation & Agent UX
The 'Taming Information' strategy is entering a meta-phase where AI is being used to rewrite documentation specifically for consumption by other AI agents.
    Q5
Is the 'Agent-First' documentation strategy the correct priority over human-readable onboarding?
    • Jin: Proposed meta-approach using Claude to optimize docs for agentic use cases following kapa.ai guidelines.
    • User Testimonial: Reported 2 months of progress in 6 hours using AI tools with Eliza docs.
    1Agent-First (Synthetic) Docs
Maximizes the platform's ability to be 'self-building' by other AI agents.
    2Hybrid UX Strategy
Balances LLM-optimization with the 'Developer First' principle to avoid alienating human builders.
    3Knowledge-Graph Focus
Moves beyond documents into structured data/tool-specs for better agent interoperability.
4Other / More discussion needed / None of the above.
